Our meetings are done, and we have been commissioned at two churches. Eric Enskat at the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, and eight others from the lead church, Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva, IL. We have divided enough equipment for TWO water system installations, plus a few spare parts not readily available in country. With all of our planning behind us, we need only to pack our bags and meet at the airport Tuesday night.
For those who were at PCBarrington just this past Sunday, we had a great turnout for Worship and mission commissioning, and heard about some great work being done at Sunny Hill School during our Life Long Learning Hour afterward. We also had many representatives of congregation drive out to serve at the soup kitchen in Woodstock. Our church family is fully vested in helping those who have less than us - materially. One of the things to watch for in all the different ways we reach out to help others is how much those 'receivers' end up being true emotional and spiritual teachers!
Keep an eye out around church, on our web page, and through resources such as this Blog, and pray about the various ways people are being touched by your gifts. Remember that these missions of our church are an integral part of our community and key expressions of our faith. We get this commission from many places in the Bible, such as this quote from Jesus "I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 24:40 NRSV
Come back often to see what's happening in Guatemala. Pray about what is happening in the stories you hear, and how others live the lesson we heard from Jesus, above.
Prayerfully,
PCB LWW
